Advancement of Humanitarian Training Through e-Learning and Mobile Technologies

Training for health emergencies is fragmented and non-standardized. Humanitarian organizations do not engage the 95% of field-based practitioners nor include an approach to monitoring the application of skills/knowledge. The Humanitarian Training Initiative in partnership with the World Health Organization will be the first to take globally recognized competencies and evidence-based curriculum to standardize training globally. E-Learning modules linked to low-cost mobile technologies will provide an accessible product to the target audience. Simulation-based training and social media tools will result in a network for learning and, communication fostering efficiency and effectiveness. This project will improve the standard of service delivery to populations affected by war and disaster and significantly contribute to the professional development and certification of a global cohort.
