Comprehensive Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) in Particularly Remote Areas

Friendship Bangladesh is implementing a structured 3-tier healthcare delivery model to provide comprehensive healthcare to isolated river-based and coastal communities of northern and southern Bangladesh. System consists of Friendship Community Medic Aides (FCMs), satellite clinics and hospital ships to reach those living in complex, remote environments. The proposed project covers a wide range of services, ranging from basic awareness building to advanced curative care. This model is not limited within any selective range of services and/or specific diseases; rather, it takes care of the overall health status of the communities situated within the intervention area. Supplemental COVID-19 funding will be used to establish 12 district-level COVID-19 helplines staffed by medical assistants, provide SMS-based education to community health workers and ensure provision of medical supplies and essential maternal, newborn and child health services at satellite clinics across 220 sites.
