Improving Care Seeking Behaviour of Young Women for Sexual and Reproductive Health in Two States in India

The primary purpose of the innovation is to build social and healthcare capacities for improving reproductive health outcomes for young women in two states. It takes to scale a pilot that is implemented and tested by IDF in two blocks of Jharkhand, India. Using a youth-focused communication strategy, designed and implemented by young women from the community, the innovation will build upon IDF’s efforts in the public health system of two states to increase availability of SRH services, including abortion and contraception. The innovation will strengthen young people’s knowledge of SRH, create an enabling environment for them by sensitizing elders of the community/gatekeepers; and increase availability of youth-friendly services. The innovation will therefore ultimately strengthen young women’s knowledge and ability to access their full complement of reproductive rights; and at the same time, make available sustainable, youth-friendly services in the public sector.
