Wearable Patient Sensors

This wearable patient sensor utilizes state-of-the-art advances in wearable technologies and analytics. This sensor goes on like a band-aid and is both disposable and Bluetooth-enabled; it will continue to measure key vital signs including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation of Ebola patients in ETUs and those suspected to be infected. This tool allows for remote monitoring, improved patient care and enhanced health care worker safety. Vital signs can be difficult to consistently measure in Ebola patients because of health care worker’s obtrusive personal protective equipment and their limited time available for each patient. These measurements, combined with a platform delivering real-time automated analysis and actionable information, allows for the earliest possible intervention to improve outcomes and minimize disease progression. The capacity to safely monitor patients from time of suspected infection to time of recovery allows for both effective diagnosis and reallocation of valuable resources that would otherwise be used in an arduous, time-consuming measurement process.
