Supply and Demand Driven Models to Deliver Integrated Solutions for Optimal Child Growth and Development in Tanzania

Decades of nutrition and more recent child development trials have produced effective interventions which improve physical growth and development. Despite the strong evidence base, strikingly little is known on the effectiveness of combining interventions into packages and best implementation models, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. In order to address this challenging gap to roll-out of comprehensive improve child growth and development programs, the objectives of the project are to: 1. Utilize community health workers (CHWs) and conditional cash transfers (CCTs) to evaluate the mechanisms of action, feasibility, and acceptability of implementing an intervention package to promote child growth and development through supply and demand sided delivery platforms. 2. Explore the effectiveness of the two implementation models on child growth and child development. This project will include a field trial in rural Tanzania with 3 arms: CHWs; CHWs + CCTs; Control.
