We developed a software that communicates with pregnant women using SMS text messaging and via Facebook messenger with the goal of identifying adverse health events, behaviors or social issues that could potentially harm the mother or child. These so-called "chatbots", send highly personalized and engaging healthcare content during pregnancy and asks questions about symptoms and behaviors, such as UTIs and antenatal appointment attendance. The answers are aggregated on an online platform that our clients (mainly public and private healthcare systems in Brazil) use to monitor adverse effects. When a mother responds with a message that may signal a problem, a healthcare professional can text back and help resolve the issue or direct the appropriate resources. This way, just one healthcare professional can monitor thousands of pregnancies at once. We use Artificial Intelligence to interpret unexpected messages that mothers send and also to personalize the content they receive.
